Frankincense is extracted from the Boswellia carterii tree native to countries such as Oman & Somalia, by cutting the bark of the tree and collecting the sap that runs form it. This sap hardens to form frankincense resin.
Frankincense has been used for millennia in religious ceremonies for its ability to connect to the spiritual world. Considered sacred, it is probably most well known for being one of the offerings of the Three Wise Men who visited Jesus upon hearing of his birth.
